The comprehensive, evidence-based Tai Chi for Health program from the Tai Chi for Health Institute is based on Sun style Tai Chi, in the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention format.
We start with a series of Tai Chi joint warm-ups. Both the warm-ups and the form are taught in accordance with Tai Chi's essential principles.
We practice a varying combination of Qigong warm-ups. flows and forms.
We move through Yang 24 Tai Chi Chuan and get a sense of the flow of this challenging, but beautiful form.
Finally we move step-by-step through Tai Chi for Arthritis.
In 2010 I twice trained in the Arthritis Foundation's Tai Chi for Arthritis, and also trained in the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program. In 2011 I taught a Tai Chi course for the Arthritis Foundation Emblem Health Arthritis Care PATH Program at Asphalt Green in Manhattan. The Arthritis Foundation stopped sponsoring Tai Chi programs. In 2012 I updated my certification in Tai Chi for Arthritis through the Arthritis Foundation. In 2017 I updated my Tai Chi for Arthritis certification through the Tai Chi Institute for Health, and also certified in Tai Chi for Rehabilitation. In February 2018 I certified in Tai Chi for Arthritis-Part 2.
In February 2020 I recertified in Tai Chi for Arthritis, with an added Fall Prevention module.
I have taught and subbed Tai Chi classes at a church, college, at Bloomingdale Aging in Place (BAiP) and at New York Sports Clubs where I teach Tai Chi & Qigong Small Group Trainings (SGT's) at New York Sports Club.
These practices offer many benefits and I enjoy teaching and sharing with others.
