email I received from a Yoga teacher in April, 2011-
thank you -

for the wonderful article on Howard Kent...

I am just a simple yoga teacher in the U.S. but Howard Kent's books have been almost like a bible for teaching yoga for me.

At one time I would buy his book Yoga Made Easy but the case..... 100 at one time.  Then I could no longer get them.  But I still recommend this book to my students as the BEST of the hundreds of books on the subject that I have read.

Your article is lovely.
Thank You

Howard Kent runs the Yoga for Health Foundation north of London. For over 25 years he has received government funding in support of his ability to turn around patients with MS, spinal injuries, paralysis and other crippling dieseases. He is the author of many books on Yoga. I have taught with Howard and one of the keys to his method is intercostal breathing, in which the student pushes on the area below the diaphragm to engage the intercostal muscles strongly. With practice this area can be mobilized and tremendously tones respiration and improves prana flow and vitality. Many patients leave their wheelchairs there.
